FR - Monitor Sölve, Hull V2
This article was published Feb 23, 2019.
I was done waiting for gray filament, so I decided to go full out with a yellow (sub)marine. While started preparing to print the rest hull pieces in yellow I had an extra look at drawings, articles and the few photos I have. To my despair I found out the deck of Sölve is not flat, but slightly angled. Not only that, but the deck is also not welded, but each piece of steel sheet is joint with bolts or giant rivets... Nothing more to do then go back to the drawing board (program..) and re-draw complete hull. It could be worse, I could have found out when all ten pieces of the hull was finished, instead now I only have four end pieces made so far. One advantage however, is that my own joints on the model will be easy to hide since the new hull pieces will have plenty of joints cross over the hull. I also did a new split with six pieces instead of previous ten. Last few pics below is of the first bow section which was finished this morning. Second part is printing now.
