the lightbox is being built

The lightbox is very simple, just a box with lights and blue-painted background.

Pict9708 -- here is the new place above the workbench

Pict9712 -- first test to see if it fits, left side

Pict9719 -- building the frame. measures are 210 * 70 * 70 cm

Pict9722 -- in place over the workbench, unpainted

Pict9748 -- background finished, testing if the building flats will fit

first layout is being built

When the lightbox was finished I made a 'cassette' and filled it with foam sheets. On top of that I will build my layout. When I am done or boredom strikes, I just lift it out and start on another 'cassette'. My example is rather big, but yours can be done in any size and fit any scale. The point is that you can build one layout at a time and when they are not in use, you store them standing up on the side - using only a few square inches of your precious floor or storage space.

Pict9820 -- here you see how the layout box are made. Braces are just to have something to fasten floor and sides to.

Pict9826 -- sides around are glued in place to avoid screw holes

Pict9829 -- first layout box is done and ready for tracks and scenery

Pict9837 -- foam sheets are glued in place

Pict9840 -- last picture until next month

During January I will start working on tracks and scenery.
